The Seraph, chapter 17
Well, I'm finished with the Nerd Herd and with Xander. Next chapter will be Cordelia's rescue, I hope. LOL
Chapter 17
“I don’t think we should go back to Sunnydale,” Andrew said. “I don’t want to explain to Mrs. Meers that Warren is a … ” He trailed off to stare at Warren.
“Yeah, I agree, and I don’t think she’d believe us if we told her he turned into a goat.” Jonathan nodded. “Now what?”
Andrew shrugged. “I guess we do what everyone else does when they grow up. Get a job and find someplace to live.”
Warren let out a bleat.
Andrew and Jonathan looked at Warren. “A place that accepts pets,” they both said at the same time.

Alan Wilkins and Bernd ‘Zoof’ Achen shook hands while Xander, Tito, and the rest of the Council looked on.
“It’s been a pleasure doing business with you.” Alan winked at Xander.
Xander felt his face redden. “What are we going to do with the old high school site? Is there a way to close the Hellmouth?”
“Not without it imploding,” Zoof said with a quick shake of his head. “I suggest we pave it over as a parking lot.”
“Good idea.” Xander was glad to hear that there was a solution he could deal with. “At least it’ll be easy for us to see when someone is trying to open it.”
Zoof nodded. “There is that.”

"Hey, Watcher. Did you hear the news? Buffy here isn't the only one getting visions of the future."
Giles gaped at Spike for a few minutes before he was able to think clearly again. “May I ask what your vision was about?”
“It picks up where Buffy’s left off,” Spike replied. “I didn’t die in the Hellmouth as previously thought. Instead, I ended up with Peaches here.” He gestured towards Angel. “At Wolfram and Hart.”
Wesley snorted. “How is that possible? Angel and WRH have been at odds ever since he moved to Los Angeles.”
“Battle the beast from the belly was his excuse,” Spike said with a sneer. “My vision ended in an alley in the rain. You were dead, Cousin Wes. Gunn was as good as dead with that stomach wound.”
Wesley licked his lips. “And Fred?”
Spike closed his eyes. “Possessed by Illyria.”
“What is Illyria?” Buffy asked.
“A purebred demon from before humans existed. She wasn’t too impressed with us vampires,” Spike whispered. “Fred was a nice gal in the vision. She didn’t deserve what will happen to her.”
“Well, the first order of business is to make sure that the First Evil is thwarted.” Buffy giggled. “I like that word. Thwarted.”
Giles stared at Buffy for a few moments. “Do you know how to do that?” he ventured to ask.
“Yup,” Buffy replied with a popping sound. “Anya told us how. We just have to be mates and all the Slayer power will be Faith’s.”
“Mates?” Giles felt his jaw drop.
Reggie let out a sigh of relief. “I guess this means we won’t have to break into Wolfram and Hart. I wasn’t looking forward to that.”
“You won’t be the Slayer anymore?” Angel asked in confusion.
“Actually, instead of being just a Slayer and a vampire, we’ll be the Immortal Guardians,” Buffy said. “I’ve seen how it will go if we let the First continue. That path is just not an option, and if uniting with the man I love will stop it? It’s better than alternative.”
“He’s not a man,” Angel growled under his breath. “That’s what you deserve. A normal life with a normal man.”
Buffy stared at her first love, and she shook her head. “No, Angel. A normal life with a normal partner is what you want.”
Buffy’s stomach growled loud enough to be heard by everyone in the room. “Sorry,” she said with a sheepish smile.
“Time for food,” Spike replied. He turned his attention to Angel. “Whatcha got in that kitchen of yours, Peaches?”
Lorne glanced in the direction of the kitchen. “Not nearly enough for this crowd,” he announced. “I suggest we order in.”
“Pizza!” Dawn said excitedly.
“I was thinking Chinese,” Buffy replied, “But pizza’s good too.”
Lorne took everyone’s pizza topping choices before he made the call for delivery from the closest pizza joint. The ordered ended up with ten large deep dish pizzas, four dessert pizzas, six orders of wings, and ten 2-liters of soda. While they were waiting, Lorne went to make some coffee.”
Buffy petted the El’birt demon, and it started to coo. “Anyone have an idea what Tribble here eats?”
“No clue,” Spike snorted. “I I just hope it doesn’t multiply like its namesake.”
Angel had a confused look on his face. “What are you talking about?”
“Star Trek, the original series, season two, episode fifteen, The Trouble with Tribbles, airdate December 29th, 1967.” Spike shook his head. “Oh, I forgot, you were probably munchin’ on rats then.”
“I was not,” Angel growled. He took a step towards Spike, but he stopped up short when most of the others in the room glared at him.
“Whatever.” Spike turned away from Angel. He’d lost interest in the conversation anyway.
Angel watched Spike’s caring attention towards not only Buffy and Dawn, but Tara and Willow too. The bleached blond vampire joked equally with Wesley, Giles, and Giles’ friend. Angel wasn’t sure why Spike kept calling Wesley his cousin. The younger vampire had also mentioned the same thing during the rescue.
When the food arrived, Wesley pulled out his billfold. “You can pay me back later, cousin.”
Now Wesley was doing it too.
“Sure, why not,” Spike shrugged. “Gotta make sure my ladies are taken care of.”
After everyone had settled in the dining room with full plates of food and glasses of beverages, Buffy turned to Spike. “So, when you offered to get me money, it had nothing to do with demon eggs?” she asked.
Spike rolled his eyes. “That was a favor for a poker buddy.”
“You didn’t realize that your buddy was an international supernatural arms dealer?” Dawn asked.
“You’ve all met Clem. Does he really seem like an international arms dealer?”
Tara chuckled while she glanced at Spike through her bangs. “It’s always the least likely suspect.”
“True,” Spike agreed. “But, believe it or not, Suvolte demon eggs are quite the delicacy. I personally don’t see the appeal, but some people pay a lot of dosh for them. Captain Cardboard had it all wrong.”
“Wow, Riley seemed so certain,” Willow commented.
Spike snorted. “Never believe the word of a vampire whorehouse john.”
“What’s a vampire whorehouse john?” Connor asked in a confused voice. He gulped when everyone in the room looked at him.
In her seat next to Spike, Dawn opened her mouth, but before she could speak the bleached blond vampire covered her words with his hand. “Hush, Nibblet. The boy’s Daddy needs to have a conversation about the birds and bees with him.”
Everyone’s attention swung from Connor to Angel.

Later, after he had to explain sex to his son under the watchful eye of every current occupant of the hotel, Angel found himself alone with the three Watchers. The other men were discussing Buffy and Spike’s separate visions.
“Spike’s vision picks up where Buffy’s leaves off,” Wesley said. He passed his notebook over to Giles.
“Why are you here?” Angel growled at Wesley, who gave him an unimpressed look.
“Because Buffy asked me to be here,” Wesley replied. He conquered the urge to put his hand to his throat and cover the scar left behind by Holtz. “Don’t worry, Angel. I’m not sticking around. In fact, I think I’m going to go back to Sunnydale with Buffy. It’ll do me some good to get to know my cousin.”
Reggie blinked in surprise. “He’s really your cousin?”
“Yes, he is. The Jamison’s, Pratt’s, and Wyndam-Pryce’s have intermarried for generations. William’s mother was a Pratt, and his father was a Jamison.” Wesley informed Reggie. “There were originally four families, but a generation of mostly females changed things. My great-great grandfather Calvert was the last Wyndam-Pryce to marry a Jamison or Pratt until my uncle married Eliza-Anne Pratt a few years ago.”
“I don’t remember any Jamison’s or Pratt’s on the Council’s records,” Reggie said.
Wesley shook his head. “Only the Wyndam-Pryce’s are Watchers.”
Angel leaned in to hiss. “You stole my son from me.”
“No, that was Holtz. I was protecting Connor.” Wesley stood up. “You may have the others in Angel Investigations convinced that you are harmless enough, but I know better. I had no reason to believe that the prophecy was false. Each of us knows Angelus history with family. It’s not pleasant.” He turned to Giles. “How about we discuss the visions on the journey back to Sunnydale?”
Giles nodded. “Of course. That would be fine.”
Angel watched Wesley stroll up the stairs, seemingly without a care in the world. His supernatural hearing allowed him to hear Wesley knock on Willow and Tara’s door. He also heard their welcome to the former Watcher.
“I think we will retire too,” Giles replied. He tossed the notebook with the observations about Spike and Buffy’s visions down on the table. “It was a long trip in from London.”
Giles and his friend disappeared upstairs, leaving Angel alone in the Hyperion lobby. He picked up the notebook, and he started to read about the visions late into the night.

Spike sank into Buffy’s warm, inviting body; his dick and teeth buried in her flesh. When he pulled his mouth away from the chalice of her neck, he whispered, “Mine.”
“Yours,” Buffy whispered in response.
Spike let out a gasp as Buffy’s soul changed him. Then, beneath him, Buffy let out a gasp of her own.
“Where the heck did those come from?” Buffy asked. She reached past Spike’s shoulder. “You have wings. Black ones.”
“You have white ones, pet.”
